Guilty Pleasures is the subject for the January Blog Chain on Absolute Write.
Raven Corinn Carluk was writing the last post and next will be AuburnAssassin.
I have the impression that I’ve got a lot of guilty pleasures sometimes I find it nearly sad how many of them I find in my life.
When it comes to movies I absolutely adore sweet comedies like Notting Hill with a cute Hugh Grant running around on screen, it doesn’t have to be Hugh Grant, it just has to be a sweet movie with lots of romance and honey and then I’m simply dissolving into a puddle on my couch. When it comes to books I have this thing for YA romance and other romantic stuff. I’m someone that was brought up reading literature, my mother would have never allowed to have anything less worthy than Tolstoj in our house or on my bookshelves so sneaking in and reading such books was always a great pleasure. Except for now I don’t have to sneak them in anymore. I’m one of those people that likes Twilight and that is buying all those sappy vampire novels (dare I mention Chirstine Feehan?) . I know they’re badly written, we do not need to discuss that. I enjoy them anyways.
Another guilty pleasure is fanfiction (only TV and movies, not from books, don’t know why), they tend to be awfully bad and those I skip but there are some really good writers out there and I really enjoy reading about my favorite pairings from my favorite shows.
I think these are the only things I feel guilty about, the rest I own with pride. Or at least I pretend to. Notice how I never mentioned food? That’s how much I pretend to own all the chocolate, ice cream, other cream and steak with pride. The only thing I’m going to mention when it comes to food is gravy/sauce. I drown my food in it. The better it tastes the more my food swims. And when I’m done with eating, either I take bread and finish the sauce or I take my finger and finish my sauce. If I’m at home and nobody watches I might even play cat and lick the plate clean.
Now, enough about me, here’s the list of the rest:

I love fan fiction too, used to write it myself…snort. There really are some truly fabulous writers out there who put out the most creative (and sometimes disturbing) stuff.
The only vampire books I’ve read are Dracula and The Historian. Also, as a long-time vegetarian, let me just say that, um, you can have all the gravy you want as long as I don’t have to watch you do it. Chocolate, though….we might have to fight over it.
mmmm, gravy!
Oh me too me too me too! I’m a romance junkie, love YA romance or anything with an uber-happy ending.
No guilt there!
My hubby likes to laugh at how I cry to Hallmark commercials. I’m sunk when it comes to movies of the same “genre”.
Yeah for sap!
Ah soppy romance …and I like watching Huge Grant too. Love his accent! I get it that it’s a trained, fake one, but hey, I wouldn’t mind speaking like that. Without the stutter though.
I used to be a regular writer for WATCHERS, a fanfiction “virtual spinoff” of BUFFY. Good times, good times. Heh heh.
And a good romantic comedy is a delight! (Emphasis on “good” like LOVE ACTUALLY).
I love Notting Hill! And I also enjoy sweet, sappy romances.
I’ve only read a little fan fiction, but what I’ve read I enjoy.
I adore fan fiction! I don’t post what I’ve written any where, but I do enjoy reading it, particularly when I’m having a bad day. And sweet romantic comedies are always fabulous, too. I’m quite fond of “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “Four Weddings and a Funeral.”
First, I love your new spot so light and fun. Every success. Now for the guilty Pleasure I write sappy romance so I dig that. You take care.
Big Hug.

I am SUCH a sucker for sweet romantic comedies!!!
I love romantic movies but I can’t usually read romantic fiction. Well, YA romance being the exception. Secret fan of Twilight. Go Team Jacob!
I always wanted to write a fanfic about the “The House of Mirth.”
